Red Shed Brewery Cooperstown Taproom to Close
After 7 great years of welcoming many friends, patrons, and visitors to our iconic beer garden in Cooperstown, we have decided to close this location effective on December 7th of 2024. We have been happy to provide everyone with the best we have had to offer: a pleasant outdoor/indoor garden, local music, great beer, good food, and a willing and friendly staff.
It is our intent to continue to earn your patronage at the following locations:
The original and sometimes hard-to-find Brewery Taproom with an unsurpassed garden and views, our great beers, picnic tables and food.
The Ale House in downtown Cherry Valley with a pub feel complete with food, ales that you have come to love, and the addition of British-style Cask Ales served from authentic British pulls at cellar temperature.
Exciting things are coming in 2025!!
Thanks….Be well and hope to see you soon.

Fresh Beer, Fresh Food, Local Ingredients
Red Shed Brewery is an award-winning Cooperstown area brewery that prides itself in making fresh, locally handcrafted beer. With three locations (one taproom in Cooperstown and two taprooms in Cherry Valley, NY), we believe that the key to a good brewery is a relaxing atmosphere and a knowledgeable team.
Located between Utica and Albany, Red Shed Brewery uses a majority of New York-grown hops to brew all our craft beers at our Cherry Valley brewery. It’s also the location of the original “red shed,” which has been converted into a seasonal taproom. Our newest location, the Red Shed Ale House, is located on Main Street in Cherry Valley and is reminiscent of an English pub. The Ale House serves a light menu of English-inspired fare and pours Red Shed beer on three different systems: a standard draft system, nitro and cask ale system.
Our Cooperstown taproom is located near Oneonta, NY, less than half a mile down County Highway 33 from Brewery Ommegang. If you ask the locals, they will tell you that one of their favorite things to do in Cooperstown is to enjoy a craft beer or two in our beer garden. With plenty of outdoor seating, an inside taproom, and a relaxed atmosphere, Red Shed Brewery is a welcoming local hangout. And we are one of the few breweries with food in the region. In addition to fresh pub favorites, our menu offers vegetarian options made with local ingredients.
What’s on Tap?
As a NYS farm brewer, our craft beers feature the best of locally grown hops and ingredients, using recipes designed to bring out the best of our region. We brew traditional English and American style ales including Hazy IPA, Double IPA, and our community Hop Harvest Pale Ale, to the classics such as Cherry Valley Smoked Porter, Otsego Golden Ale, Jessica’s Red Ale, and more. Our beers rotate seasonally, but you can see what we brew on our beer menu.
Our Cooperstown taproom has 20 taps of fresh Red Shed beer. The Red Shed Ale House serves 4-5 beers using a typical CO2 draft system, 1-2 beers using a nitro push, and the ability to serve 4 beers on a cask beer system. Beers poured from a cask system have a different temperature and carbonation from those poured from a CO2 tap, leaving you to better taste the complexities of the beer flavor.
Stay and enjoy a pint or order a flight of 4 different beers for a personalized beer tasting. Then, take home a 4-pack of cans, a growler of any draft beer, or order a keg of your favorite Red Shed style.
A Brewery the Whole Family will Love
We are a family-friendly brewery and taprooms. We are pet-friendly for well-behaved dogs (on a leash) in the Cooperstown beer garden and Ale House outdoor patio, so you don’t need to leave a family member behind. With plenty of outdoor seating, we are a perfect spot for kid-friendly and pet-friendly dining, with a food menu that keeps everyone happy.
The Farm Brewer Promise
Red Shed Brewery is a New York State farm brewery, which means that at least 60% of our beer ingredients and hops need to be grown in New York State. Because our brewers love working with our neighbors so much, we’ve been using 80-100% New York hops and malts for our beers since 2018!
